A conversation with an ultra dub relative
by joe134cd ini was talking to a very pimi relative the other day.
despite been ultra orthodox she is a sweet old soul.
because of this i had to be super careful how i worded things, due to my respect for her and not wanting to upset or get her aposta-dar homing i’m on me.

is it worth trying with elderly dubs ? why try rocking their boat ? they will be getting their promised resurrection any time soon.
go after the young dubs--they have so much more to gain getting out of the cult.

Pseudonyms
by no-zombie inone of this things that constantly reminds me of the extent and the reach the organization has into our lives, is the fact we all need pseudonyms to have a conversation or to make a comment in this even here in this place.
even when people have left the society (by however it has occurred), its rare to see somebody change their online presence to their personal name.. now i'm not expecting people to do that of course, fore we are all free to do what we like (which is the real beauty of this forum) but the fact that it doesn't occur that often, shows how much we've all been effected by being told over and over again, "not to be critical of god's organization".
of course there could be an number so side issues at play here; with some people not wanting to burn their bridges in an attempt to keep what reputation they have left intact and sadly a small minority others, do enjoy the anonymity to just talk trash ... but if a person can not feel free to stand up and respectfully make a critical comment or ask a thorny question without fear of repercussion from their religion, then doesn't it show that there is no real freedom in that faith.

when i first discovered the internet world of xjw's, i used the pseudonym BIGMAC, and stan livedeath as a facebook name for xj activity. i think someone complained to facebook management and the listing was taken off.
i now use the name Mac Jaxon on facebook.
the reason i was incognito was just in case some jw recognised me--and caused trouble for my father ( Jack--hence Jaxon ). as he died in 2016 there is no longer any need for pseudonymity.

Talked to a JW in the park
by Xanthippe inso in my lunch break at work today i walked in the park, just chilling out when a woman approached and offered me a leaflet.
didn't have to read it i knew straight away who she was.. me: my family are involved with jws.
the new world was supposed to come in the mid-seventies but it didn't.

she approached you--with a leaflet. you never asked her for it---so she was fair game.
i dont go near the cart attendants, but if any call at my house--then thats different. they dont get away lightly.

Kingdom Hall "sale" - new light!
by The Fall Guy inin a town called stevenston on the west coast of scotland, the kingdom hall was closed down approximately 6 months ago and the congregation (named kilbirnie) was assigned to use the kingdom hall of the nearby irvine congregation.. according to an ldc source at mill hill, the kilbirnie kh is scheduled for a refurbishment!
the org boots out the congregation and leaves their kh redundant for 6 months?????????
good planning, ldc.

Motherly Love, that "Unbreakable Bond"
by Simon inmy father died a couple of months ago.
he'd been ill for some time and had many health scares and heart troubles over the years but always managed to keep on going.
then one time he didn't.. i'm glad i got to know him again and spend some more time with him after so many years missed because of the wts but those years will always be lost forever.

Simon. i'm sorry to read you have lost both parents.
this shunning practice has many variables. i'm sure those that practice 100% shunning do it as a sort of unsuccessful control mechanism. my born in first wife is in that category. she shuns our son--because he left her religion simple as that. so--it hasnt worked for her. he's free of it--has a happy and successful life and new family. shes the misery. getting older by the day--70 next birthday. no doubt praying fervently for the end of this wicked system.
when my old dad--a more open minded sort of dub--died 2 years back--i was the one to organise his funeral.
after checking his will with our family solicitor--there was no mention of any specific funeral arrangements--i arranged a simple non-religious commital. no service--no prayers--no songs. and i certainly did not notify his former congregation. i did not want any involvement with those hypocrites.
he will live on in my memory--and when i'm gone--so will he.

Why is the finished mystery of 1917 so expensive compared to other JW books?
by blownaway ini see these on ebay from time to time and they go fro 150 to 200 dollars.
seems like a lot.
other old jw books go for much less.
